Free UK business plan wizard
Turn your idea into a structured draft business plan you can download as a PDF. Built for people starting or growing a small UK business — with plain-English questions, key assumptions you can edit, and numbers in pounds (£).
Ready to start? The wizard runs in a secure browser session.
What this business plan tool does
- Guided questions — your idea, area, budget, customers, offer, marketing, operations, skills, and financial notes.
- Assumptions step — the wizard proposes a short set of planning assumptions (prices, volumes, costs, and similar). You confirm or edit them before the full draft is generated.
- Lean or full plan — choose a shorter outline or a fuller document-style structure.
- Numbers in context — illustrative figures such as monthly cash-style thinking, breakeven-style discussion, and multi-year outlook, anchored to what you confirmed.
- PDF to keep — download a PDF of your plan from the results screen when you are happy with the draft. The plan on screen only lasts for this browser tab session (there is no MicroBiz365 login library of plans), so download if you want to keep it.
- Update & regenerate on the results page — after your plan appears, look near the top of the page for the yellow “Want to change the plan?” callout and the Update & regenerate your plan box (edit assumptions, optional notes, then Regenerate plan with changes). You get a limited number of free AI re-runs per plan.
Who it is for
Sole traders, side hustles, and very small companies in the UK who want a credible first draft to discuss with a co-founder, bank, mentor, or adviser — not a substitute for professional tax, legal, or regulated advice.
How to improve the output (Word + ChatGPT)
The wizard gives you a strong starting point. If you want to go further:
- Get the text into Word — download the PDF from the wizard and open it in Microsoft Word (Word can open many PDFs and convert to an editable document), or copy sections from the on-screen plan and paste into a new Word file.
- Open ChatGPT (or another AI assistant you trust) and paste the part you want to improve — a single section is easier than the whole file at once. Click in the message box at the bottom, paste, then press Enter to send. Ask follow-ups in the same chat. If you are logged in, ChatGPT usually keeps the thread in your history; you can also copy its answers into Word.
- On the results page, the optional “Open ChatGPT + copy prompt” button opens ChatGPT in a new tab for a local price check — that conversation does not come back into the wizard; it lives entirely in ChatGPT.
- Say exactly what you want — for example: “Shorten this executive summary for a bank manager”, “Add a paragraph on risks and mitigations”, “Rewrite in more formal investor tone”, or “Tighten the marketing section around Instagram and local flyers only.”
- Check every figure and claim — AI can misread context; you remain responsible for what you submit to third parties.
If your PDF is awkward to edit in Word, try our free PDF to Word converter (browser-based, private) to produce a .docx first, then paste sections into ChatGPT as needed.
Important limitations
- Figures are illustrative estimates, not forecasts you should rely on without your own checks.
- The wizard is not legal, tax, or investment advice.
- The interactive app is hosted on a separate service (Vercel); MicroBiz365 links to it from this site. You should review any host privacy terms when you use the wizard.
