Background: what Companies House expects · optional tax dates
Under Companies House rules, most limited companies must file a confirmation statement each year and annual accounts. Missed deadlines can mean fines or strike-off action. Confirmation statement (GOV.UK) · Annual accounts (GOV.UK).
HMRC handles tax and Self Assessment; dates depend on your situation. This tool does not connect to HMRC — you can type in up to two optional dates (for example “file by” and “pay by”) if you want the same style of reminder alongside Companies House dates.
1. Look up your company
Don’t know your company number?
Type part of your registered company name, then pick your business from the list. We’ll fill in the number for you.
Uses the official Companies House search — try distinctive words from your name if there are many matches.

2. Get reminders by email
Use the same company number as above. Enter your email and how many days before each due date we should start reminding you. We email you a confirmation link first — reminders do not start until you click that link (so only you can turn them on).
Common questions
Where do I find my company number?
On Find and update company information (GOV.UK), search your business name — the number is on the company page. Or use the name search on this page and pick your company from the list.
Does this check HMRC for me?
No. We never see your Government Gateway login. You can add up to two optional dates you already have (for example “file by” and “pay by”) from HMRC letters, your online account, or your accountant — alongside Companies House reminders.
When would I get a reminder?
During the window you chose (for example from 30 days before a due date through to the deadline), using UK calendar dates. Exact timing depends on the service being fully set up on our side.
Why do I need to confirm my email?
We only start reminders after you click the link in the message we send. Until then, nothing is scheduled — that stops someone else typing your address by mistake. After you confirm, filing nudges can begin in the notice window you chose.
